Park Board

The Park board is a completely independent board which serves like a “board of directors” for our City parks. They guide the general direction of our parks including park regulations, and they direct Parks Superintendant Len Smith

Civic Center Advisory Board

The Civic Center Advisory Board advises the Mayor’s Office of how the Joyce Hank’s Community Center should be used, needed repairs and upgrades, and also serve as liaisons with Community Civic Council.

Zoning Board of Appeals

The Zoning Board of Appeals is a completely independent board that hears all appeals regarding our zoning code, and may grant variances to deviate from our code. Variances are granted if the board feels that a hardship exists.

Civil Service Commission

The Civil Service Commission establishes our Civil Service Rules, and creates and maintains eligibility lists for the Police and Fire Departments. On rare occasions, the board may hear appeals of disciplinary actions.

Investment Committee

The investment committee is responsible for directing where the City invests revenues, both short and long term.

Demolition Board

The Demolition Board is responsible for certifying homes and buildings that have been identified by the building inspector as public nuisances to be demolished.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is responsible for the City Master Plan, lot splits, and mandatory referrals when considering a rezoning request.

Income Tax Board of Review

The Income Tax Review Board hears appeals from residents who feel that have been incorrectly taxed
