All residents and businesses of Sheffield Lake are invited to enter the city’s 1st Annual Halloween Display Contest. Displays can include just about anything—lights, fog machines, electronics, folk art, decorations of all sorts—so long as they are visible from the street, are appropriate for neighbors and children to see, and comply with Sheffield Lake City laws and codes. Each house and business will be judged based on the overall quality of its display. Judges will consider such factors as scariness, creativity, and whimsy. Judging will take place October 24-26 between 7 P.M. and 9 P.M. Displays must be visible and operational during that time period to be judged. Cash and other prizes will be awarded to contest winners. Winners will be announced on the Sheffield Lake Buzz Facebook page and the city web page, www.sheffieldlake.net, on Wednesday, October 28.
Residents and businesses that wish to participate must submit their entry requests no later than 5 P.M. on October 21, 2015. No entry requested will be accepted after 5 P.M. on October 21, 2015. To enter, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or drop off a self-made entry form at Dock’s Tavern, 4540 Lake Rd, or the Driftwood Cafe, 4116 Lake Rd, during their respective business hours. Emailed and self-made entries should include the title “2015 Sheffield Lake Halloween Display Contest” as well as the entrant’s name, address, and phone number.
The 2015 SHEFFIELD LAKE HALLOWEEN DISPLAY CONTEST is sponsored by the Sheffield Lake Civic Pride Committee, which is solely and entirely responsible for establishing contest rules and procedures, selecting judges and creating judging criteria, determining the appropriateness of displays, and awarding prizes.
