The district serves the communities of Sheffield Lake and Sheffield Village. Nearly 1,700 students from pre-kindergarten through high school attend one of the district’s five schools – Forest Lawn Early Learning Center (pre-kindergarten and kindergarten) Knollwood School (grades 1-2), Brookside Intermediate School (grades 3-5), Brookside Middle School (grades 6-8) and Brookside High School (grades 9-12).

Established in 1971, the Lorain County JVS offers nationally accredited career and technical education for high school students and adults. Located on a 100-acre campus in Oberlin, Ohio, the JVS is one of the largest career-technical facilities in Ohio and serves high school students from 13 school districts including Sheffield-Sheffield Lake.

Through its program for high school students, JVS offers dozens of high demand career focused areas of study including allied health sciences, carpentry, digital media arts, culinary arts, masonry trades, web and graphic design or welding and fabrication.

JVS also offers programs for adults through its Adult Career Center, including a free adult diploma program for adults 20+ years old who do not have a high school diploma or GED; customized programs for businesses and industries; continuing education courses for adult students who need recertification; and personal enrichment and special interest courses.

Students receive individualized, hands-on learning experiences. JVS also links students to local businesses to help them find summer internships, work-based learning opportunities, and careers after they complete their program.
