The city’s location on Lake Erie’s shores offers many benefits to residents. Like other neighboring lake-shore communities, much of the shoreline is private property. However, Sheffield Lake preserved land for five parks that offer public access to the lake. Each of those parks provides a range of amenities that appeal to families looking for picnic or play areas; boaters; fishermen, women and kids; walking, cycling and outdoor enthusiasts. For example, an observation deck at Shell Cove Park has often provided a beautiful background for wedding, family reunion or or prom photos. There is no charge to use the city’s boat launch. Parks have picnic tables and grills. Benches allow residents to take in dazzling sunsets and to watch sparkling lake water that can be churned up during storms or develop amazing nature-made ice sculptures in winter. There’s more detail about all ten of the city’s parks further into this section of the website.
