The Lorain County Metro Parks manages nearly 10,000 acres across Lorain County, with each park offering unique features. One of their recent acquisitions is a property on Harris Road at the southern border of the city. This area contains extensive wetlands, which are federally protected to preserve wildlife and natural habitats. Park officials are currently evaluating how best to develop the site within these environmental restrictions. At this time, the area is not open to the public. However, the district maintains several other parks just a short drive from Sheffield Lake, located in Avon, Avon Lake, Lorain, Vermilion, and Sheffield Village.

The parks offer a variety of activities year-round. You can explore them here: Lorain County Metro Parks Activities

They also provide educational opportunities for both kids and adults. Learn more about these programs here: Lorain County Metro Parks Education
