City of Sheffield Lake seeks comments on Lake Road sidewalk installation

The City of Sheffield Lake is proposing to complete another phase (Phase 4) of the Lakefront
Connectivity Project by installing an 8’ wide sidewalk along the south side of Lake Road (U.S. 6)
from Treadway Boulevard to Buckeye Drive, where it will cross to the north side from Buckeye
Drive to the eastern driveway of the Perch on Lake apartments. The project will suspend and
resume at the culvert west of Elm Street where an 8’ wide sidewalk was already installed when the
culvert was replaced. The project will also install a rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) and
high visibility crosswalk at Shell Cove Park. In order for the project to be completed, new
permanent and/or temporary right-of-way and/or easements will need to be acquired from parcels
along the path of the new sidewalk.
Traffic on Lake Road will be maintained during construction. Construction is expected to begin
in the fall of 2027 and end in the spring of 2028.
Comments concerning the proposed project may be sent by mail to Patrick Hastings, Service
Director, City of Sheffield Lake, 609 Harris Road, Sheffield Lake, Ohio 44054; by phone at 440-
949-6259; or by email to [email protected]. Any comments must be received by
May 8, 2026.
