City of Sheffield Lake seeks comments on Lake Road Transportation for Livable Communities Project

City of Sheffield Lake is proposing to construct an 8’ wide concrete sidewalk along the north side of U.S. 6 (Lake Road) from Lake Breeze Road to the Windjammer Apartments, and along the south side of U.S. 6 (Lake Road) from Lake Breeze Road to approximately 130’ east of Brookside Trail. This project is part of a 28-mile lakefront The multimodal network. Construction also includes installation of two Rectangular Rapid Flash Beacons (RRFBs) at the existing Lake Road pedestrian crossings at Lake Breeze Road and the Domonkas Library. The project will be constructed entirely within the public right-of-way and on property owned by the City.

2018 Fall Leaf Pick-Up

Curbside leaf collection is provided by the City in the fall only, commencing at the end of October. The Service Department will be picking up leaves at curb-side through mid-December, weather permitting. After that, leaves will need to be put in trash carts for regularly scheduled trash pick-up.

Limited Environmental Review Availability Notice

The Ohio EPA, through the Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF) program, is considering funding a wastewater improvements project in Sheffield Lake, Ohio, which is subject to environmental reviewrequirements. The proposed project is expected to be funded in August 2018, and consists of improvements to the city’s three wastewater pump stations.

Fall Leaf Pickup

The City will begin a pilot program this fall, expanding services to include curbside leaf pickup. Weather permitting, trucks will pick up your raked leaves at curbside from the middle of October through the middle of December.  After that, leaves will need to be bagged for regularly scheduled trash pickup.

2016 Chip Grant Award

The Lorain County Commissioners are pleased to announce that Lorain County, in partnership with the cities of Oberlin and Sheffield Lake, have been awarded $1,062,500 in funding from the Ohio Development Services Agency Community Housing Impact and Preservation (CHIP) Grant.  As Partners, each community has funds designated to address home repair and rehabilitation of privately owned-owner occupied housing.
